The northern lights, aurora borealis, are displayed over the city of Tromso in northern Norway. Many clear skies this autumn have produced many spectacular displays of this natural phenomena so far this year. The northern lights are actually the result of collisions between gaseous particles in the Earth’s atmosphere with charged particles released from the sun.
